ANZAC Day

Posted on April 26, 2013

Showing our nations pride six volunteers efforts in the 2010 – 2011 Queensland floods were honored with National Emergency Medal. Many volunteers flocked to help out during the floods from all around giving much needed fight, spirit and vital services. The medals were awarded to volunteers from Baffle Creek this week but volunteers came from all over; Gladstone, Calliope, Mt Larcom, Rockhampton and many more areas.

Continuing on the award front, Agnes Water surfing festival came to a close crowning the top notch surfers. Competitors battled it out on glassy meter high waves. A few stand outs in the chop, Clinton Farlow narrowly edged out Glen Cunningham in the Long board division scoring a game changing 9 out of 10. Great days on the beach had by all amongst the fierce competition.

Let’s see what’s up on the horizon in Agnes Water.

Get into some local Rugby when the Agnes Water Marlins take it to the South Kolan. The game should be a good one with Marlins coming up the trump tomorrow. Last meeting between the two saw a 34 thumping in way of Agnes Water, hopefully it’s much of the same. Head down and support the local league, but more importantly Agnes Waters own Marlins.

A couple of community events coming up too so get in and check them out. The Discovery Coast Markets are on again this Sunday at the SES grounds. On the 2nd of May the Crafty Ladies will meet. If you want a piece of the crafty action head down 9:15am – 12 noon at the new Agnes Water Community Centre meeting room.

In weather the change of season doesn’t seem to change a thing up here at Agnes Water, always floating around the 26 degree mark. Friday till Monday is giving good bits of sunshine so if the beach is on the cards those days are your best bet. The other days have good odds on rain but may hold true.

The surf today’s not giving us a lot being a day to complement an amateur’s skill set. Keep an eye on the waves though, the next couple of days it’ll pick up. Winds are set to start hitting their stride in a day or two so the swell should pick up.

Thanks for stopping in this week, love to hear back from you. Check out Captain Cooks Holiday Village Facebook  account and give any thoughts you have.

From the Crew here take it easy, till next blog.
