Brew young rugby talent this Sunday

Posted on August 2, 2013

Hello and hope all is well. Things are looking up for Australia’s Ashes Cricket campaign overnight but forget about the cricket this weekend… maybe not the whole weekend but bring the family down to the Rugby coaching clinic this Sunday. It looks to be a great day.

The weather doesn’t disappoint either holding up its end of the bargain for the day and week. From Sunday it looks to be a week of sunny, sunshine hovering around tops of 21 – 22 degrees. Grab a tan while you can, hopefully though it is a sign of things to come.

Get the young ones into rugby with this Sundays NRL Coaching Clinic teaching them the basics of the sport. The session has a great lineup of qualified coaches to teach the basics and run fun drills and games from 10am till 12pm. The bar opens at 12pm for the adults and hot foods on offer. Head down to Discovery Coast Sport and Rec Grounds, Anderson Way, Agnes Water for the free event. Don’t forget a mouth-guard, water bottle and sunscreen.

Also, get on board and support the big boys of local rugby, Agnes Waters own Marlins. They set out for battle this Saturday as the season is winding up for a big finish. The boys of 1770 are in fine form so let’s hope it continues this weekend.

If Rugby League isn’t your scene or cup of tea maybe surfing is? The surf today is a bit of fun with a few nice waves around the foot mark, occasionally the two foot mark. Make the most of it though, next week’s surf is shaping up to be tame.

Yesterday saw the first ever Senior Talent Star competition to come to Agnes Water. I didn’t have a chance to head down myself though. The Gladstone Region’s Talent Quest is for over 55 year olds, with any acts welcome. If you qualify and have a talent you want to flaunt there are some great prizes to be won, with the first prize being a weekend for two at Mercure Capricorn Resort and $300 room credit. If you missed yesterday don’t despair, on Friday the 16th of August the final heat will be run in Gladstone. It is a bit of a trip but it looks to be fun and if you win a prize well and truly worth it.

Thanks for dropping in and reading this week’s blog, give your thoughts on the Captain Cooks Holiday Village crews Facebook page. Till next time, take it easy and enjoy yourself.
