It’s a busy town, Agnes Water
Posted on August 23, 2013Hello, this week it’s all happening at seventeen seventy, a few events to look forward to. The weather is by far holding up its end of the bargain too. Hope you are going well like the Australian Ashes final test campaign over night. Let’s get into what’s going on around the town this week.
First point of call is the weather. Thankfully it looks to be a week of all sunshine; maybe England’s summer weather should take a page out of Queensland’s winter weather for the final Ashes test. The mercury will stay steady on the 23 – 24 degree mark.
To complement the weather delight the surf is offering nothing, flat as The Oval pitch. Today’s beaches are awesome but don’t take that as call for surf. Following the half full glass spirit, great fishing conditions though. The week on the waves doesn’t look to pick up or offer a challenge. My advice, pack the rod not the board. Or, if fishing isn’t your cupper, join the week of community action.
The big one is upon us, that is the local rugby grand final. The local boys of Agnes Water have had a stellar season to date, hitting their straps and best form at the business end of the season. They deserve to win this one. The grand final is this Sunday in Gin Gin, with the first game kick off at 1pm and the main event set for 2:45pm. The Marlins form says Sunday arvos roast with be served with new gold-ware.
Kick off your weekend with a fun, classy starter at Agnes Waters Boutique Night Market held tonight. The event starts at 5:30pm at Agnes Water Community Centre. Only $2 entry including wine & nibbles, Friday nights knock off beer has been replaced by a sneaky red or two.
There are a couple of local events in the not too distant future. 2014 Australia Day award nominations are now open. Nominate a local hero, to print the nomination form click here. The Agnes Water triathlon is fast approaching held on Sunday the 6th of October, Just enough time to whip yourself into a person of steel for the event. For information call race coordinator, Mel Robeck, on 04 0488 1770.
Let us know what you are up to or thoughts of Captain Cooks Holiday Village and join the conservation on the crews Facebook page. Till next week have an awesome time.
